CAT bus

Capital Area Transit (CAT) provides bus service Monday through Sunday throughout the City of Raleigh, serving an average of 4.0 million passengers and covering an average of 2.5 million miles a year. CAT operates 37 fixed routes and 2 express routes throughout the city. Click here to see our system map.

CAT also operates a Downtown Circulator (R-Line), that connects Raleigh’s employees, residents and visitors to retail, restaurants and entertainment venues around downtown. This fare free service is quick and easy!

Real Time Info:

Automated vehicle locations (AVL) and projected real-time bus arrivals for CAT buses can be accessed by visiting www.RaleighRides.org.

The Downtown Raleigh Alliance and the City of Raleigh have also introduced AVL and projected real-time arrivals for the R-LINE. Citizens can go to http://www.yourhere.com/rline to view an online interactive map of the R-LINE route along with actual bus locations displayed in real-time.

Every bus that travels through downtown makes a stop at Moore Square Transit Station, CAT’s transfer facility. It is located across from the Moore Square Park by City Market. The Moore Square Station Information Booth is open from 7am – 6pm Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm on Saturday, and is closed Sunday.
