Chapel Hill Transit

Chapel Hill Transit (CHT), the second largest transit system in North Carolina, is the public transportation provider for Chapel Hill, Carrboro and the University of North Carolina, serving over 160 square miles. CHT provides fixed-route bus services (31 weekday & weekend routes), EZ Rider (ADA) and Shared-ride services. Chapel Hill Transit has a fleet of 117 vehicles (99 fixed-route and 18 demand response) – providing over 7.4 million annual rides and covering over 2.5 million miles. While operating as a town department, CHT also works with a public transit committee consisting of policy level leaders from each jurisdiction.

Chapel Hill Transit (CHT) will build and operate a public transit system that provides personal mobility to residents and visitors of the Chapel Hill, Carrboro, and University of North Carolina communities, while supporting local development and environment goals of our community.
