Description of Services

The Town of Chapel Hill operates bus service to Chapel Hill, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Carrboro, Pittsboro and Hillsborough as well as EZ Rider (Para transit service). Chapel Hill also provides a range of commuter resources for the Chapel Hill - Carrboro area including the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Click here to see our System Map.

Events Schedule for Chapel Hill

September

  • Car Free Day:  Be sure on September 22 to leave your car at home and use alternative transportation.  As the Chapel Hill Transit Driver for a sticker and bring it by the Planning Department in Town Hall for your name to go into a drawing for wonderful participation incentives!  For more information on World Wide Car Free Day visit http://www.worldcarfree.net/wcfd/ .
  • Operator Appreciation Day:   Ride the bus on Friday, September 23rd and make sure to let the driver know that their efforts are appreciated!
  • Go Chapel Hill Commute Club:  Sign up for the Chapel Hill Commute Club to use alternative transportation and receive wonderful incentive coupons and other fun items!
  • Walking Wednesdays:  Chapel Hill Carrboro City Schools - use alternative transportation on Wednesday's to get to and from work, get children to school or just run errands.  Walk, cycle, carpool - anything except a single occupancy vehicle and always remember safety first! 
  • Try Fare Free:   Chapel Hill Transit everyday for errands, for recreation and social travel as well as to get back and forth to work!

  • 2011 Annual Conference - Go Chapel Hill Mobility Conference:  November 4th will be the annual alternative transporation conference regarding best ways for businesses to offer cleaner greener travel to employees. For more information call Len Cone at 969 -5065.
  • Get Involved & Volunteer:  Multiple opportunities exist for becoming involved with alternative transportation in the Town of Chapel Hill and Carrboro. Contact Len Cone regarding opportunities to service on Boards and Commissions such as Greenways, Transporation, Parks & Recreation and the Bike and Pedestrian boards. Opportuinties also include being part of the Go Chapel Hill Alternative Transportation program. Call 969 - 5065 for more information!
  • Pedestrian Walking Maps:  Stop by Town Hall Planning Department or local bicycle shops to pick up a copy of the new Chapel Hill & Carrboro Bicycle Map for route suggestions getting around the community!
